Adrenal Corticotrophic Hormone will stimulate the Adrenal Cortex, the part of the adrenal that makes steroid hormones. It makes Aldosterone, Cortisol, and Testosterone. The hypothalamus and pituitary are trying to keep one of these hormones at a stable value by turning the adrenal cortex on and off. But which one? If they were trying to keep Testosterone levels stable, they'd have a hard time. If the person were female, they'd never be able to get testosterone high enough; and if the person were male, they'd never be able to get testosterone low enough! |

Try the question again. Which of the three adrenal
cortex hormones is most likely to be controlled by ACTH from the anterior
pituitary? |
