Remember, a protein is a chain of many different amino acids.
As the stomach churns away, some of the fluid containing these amino acids starts to leak down through the pyloric sphincter into the small intestine.
The small intestine is suddenly receiving hydrochloric acid and amino acids. These stimulate it to begin its part of the digestive process.
