In summary, CRH release helps the stress response by raising blood glucose and helping the SNS raise blood pressure.

It stops the inflammatory and immune responses, which would divert energy from dealing with the emergency.

But the down side is that long-term CRH release will cause damage to the musculoskeletal system and the immune system. In some animals, like spawning salmon, sustained high levels of CRH and cortisol can be fatal.
