Because animals can't afford to lose their body fluids with all the good stuff in them -- food and Oxygen -- they have developed kidneys.

A kidney is basically a tube with one end open to the inside of the body and the other end open to the outside. The body fluid can leak out through the tube -- but as it goes, the cells making up the tube will reclaim or reabsorb the good stuff from it. They can also secrete more wastes into the fluid as it leaves the body.
